Bolting Tools for space restricted applications

Boltight’s Typhoon range of bolt tensioners offer a high-load, low profile solution for space restricted applications demanding high and accurate preloads.
Developed initially fort he Wind Industry where such connections are commonplace, additional convenience features such as a spring loaded gear drive for nut rotation, automatic piston retraction and positive stop facility ensure that Boltight Typhoon tensioners are the ideal choice for any application demanding a powerful, portable and user-friendly bolt tensioning tool.
Typhoon tensioners also feature a high-cycle fatigue, aerospace-grade reaction component for maximum tool life. Typhoon tools are designed to fail safely (posing no threat to personnel or plant when the maximum tool life is archived. Available in single stage configurations, the tools also feature a durable carrying handle, configurable quick connect options and digital cycle counters where specified.
The tools generate ISO and ASTM prof load standards for 10.9 bolts, in accordance with then requirements for wind turbine, structural and other high load, high integrity bolting applications.

Optional Geared Nut Run-Down

Boltight offer a gear nut run-down mechanism which provides a very rapid and consistent way of seating the foundation hexagon nuts during the tensioning procedure. A common 1/2" Square drive hand torque wrench can be used to rapidly seat the nuts to the recommended 30 Nm (max) torque. Alternatively Boltight offer the same foundation tensioning tools but with manual nut run-down

Limited Space Option

A unique elliptical Typhoon Series tool is also available for use when clearance between the bolt and tower wall is restricted.

Automatic Tensioner Reset

Again to increase speed all Typhoon tensioners are fitted with a spring mechanism that automatically resets the tensioner once the pressure has been released to zero. The tensioner is then ready to tension the next bolt, no operator intervention is required.
